If you finish your autobiography before the time given, you can find a couple of ideas below to add to your project! You may add any of the extra items that interest you.
Publishing Company
When authors publish something, they make their writing available for people to read. Books are published by publishing companies. These companies print, bind, and sell the books to book stores. You may have seen major publishing companies such as Scholastic, Harper Collins, or McGraw-Hill written in the front or back covers of many books you have read. The publishing companies usually print their name, address, and date of publishing on books.
1. You are going to create a publishing company and add it to the last page of your autobiography (you will have to add another page).
Create a name for your publishing company. This can be your name, a made-up word, or anything you want.
Create an address for your publishing company. This can be South's address or a made-up address. Remember, an address should include: house number, street name, city, state, and zip code.
Create a date that your autobiography was published. This should be the day when your project is finished.
Create a symbol to represent your publishing company. This can include the first letter your publishing company starts with, or anything your want.
About the Author
You may have noticed in some books that there is an "About the Author" section usually found in the back inside-cover. This section is usually accompanied by a current photo of the author. This is a place where the author is described in the third person (the author doesn't say "I was born in..." but rather that author is described by someone else "Elena Caceres was born in...." In this section, readers usually learn about the author's favorite genre to write, other books he has written or if the book is his first, his education background, where he lives today, and what he enjoys doing on his free time.
1. You are going to write an "About the Author" section and add it to the last page of your autobiography (you will have to add another page). If you also added a publishing company, this page can come one page before. Your "About the Author" paragraph should include the following elements:
"About the Author" title
Details explaining your favorite genre to write (Fiction, non-fiction, mystery, fantasy? Why?)
Details explaining if your have written other books or if this autobiography is your first
Your education background (What grade are you in? What school?)
What city and state do you live in
What you enjoy doing in your free time
2. Add a current photograph or drawing of yourself
Glossary
A glossary is an alphabetical list of difficult words and their definitions. A glossary is found in the last couple of pages in a book and is most commonly found in non-fiction books. Words in the text are often italicized or in bold print so that the reader knows the definition can be found in the glossary.
1. You are going to create a glossary and add it to the last page of your autobiography (you will have to add another page). If you also added a publishing company and/or About the Author page, this page can come one page before. Follow the steps below to create a glossary.
Pick one word from each page of your autobiography to add to your glossary. If you don't come across any "difficult" words, you can pick a word and use the Thesaurus app or Thesaurus.com or your background knowledge to find a synonym.
Rewrite each word in bold print.
Add a page for the glossary at then end of your autobiography and title it, "Glossary."
Write your words that you are going to define in the glossary in alphabetical order.
Define the words. Use the Dictionary app or Dictionary.com or your background knowledge to define the word. The definition should be short and simple. Don't copy straight from the dictionary, this definition should be in your own words!
Add a page number (Page 9).
Go back to the table of contents page and add "Glossary....... Page 9"
Table of Contents
1. You are going to write the table of contents page. This will be the second page of your autobiography, but you will actually complete this page LAST. Add a page and come back to the page when you are finished with your autobiography. When you are ready, follow the step below.
Add the title "Table of Contents"
Go to each page of you Autobiography and add a page number (you don't number the title page or table of contents)
Add the title from each page after the table of contents and its page number
The title page, table of contents page, publishing page, and about the author page are not listed on the table of contents, they also don't have page numbers
